Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America. But even with increasing awareness, hospitals still find that women put off seeking medical attention when they are suffering from the symptoms of a heart attack. To encourage women to take action sooner, BVK and Avera Health teamed up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to put stoves and washing machines in restaurants and grocery stores. The message? If you are suffering the symptoms of a heart attack, dinner and the laundry can wait. The campaign is based on the insight that women take care of everyone else in their lives before they take care of themselves. But when it comes to your heart you shouldn’t take chances. The effort created a media buzz in Sioux Falls and one location signed up over 2,000 women alone to take a screening and get more information.
