Gene Simmons Proposes in Belize. Really? Belize?

It was one of the most talked about proposals of the year. Rock star Gene Simmons finally asked Shannon Tweed to marry him. And not only did he do it in front of 3 million A&E viewers on the season finale of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, but thanks to the BVK promotions team, he was able to do it in Belize, as a part of an effort to promote tourism there. It was called the “Belize in Love” promotion and it used the show’s much-anticipated finale to launch the Vacation Giveaway sweepstakes that was similar to the trip Gene took Shannon on. Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed tweeted about the sweepstakes during the show to over 300,000 followers, generating over 5000 new fans of the Belize Vacation Facebook page in 24 hours. The promotion was so successful in generating buzz about Belize, that the search term “Belize” shot to #1 on Google Trends July 26th. Come Out and Play.

In a world spinning too fast, with precious little time to enjoy the simple things, a new TV campaign for St. Pete/Clearwater taps into the pure joy of a Florida beach getaway.  In “Come Out and Play,” images of kids sprinting to the beach against a  swelling trumpet score are juxtaposed with a grandfatherly voice-over advising children to enjoy their youth, to “run free” and “be childish.”

In “Promises,” couples are encouraged to rediscover romance on the beach, where we can “abandon our routines,” dance by half-light” and “keep all of our promises.”  The spots were filmed in locations throughout the area to feel cinematic, dreamlike and voyeuristic.
