Last week, BVK’s work with Maine Office of Tourism was recognized at the Adrian Awards in New York, an annual awards show that honors excellence in travel marketing. Maine’s strategic brand partnership with L.L.Bean received a 2017 Platinum Adrian Award for Advertising – Full Campaign, winning from over 1,300 submitted entries.

For the award-winning brand partnership, BVK and the Office of Tourism partnered with national outdoor retail brand L.L.Bean on a co-op marketing program. The partnership entailed a feature edition on the editorial website entitled “Chasing the Sun,” and an influencer program where six travelers visited Maine for the first time to document their adventures through Maine’s natural beauty. L.L.Bean fully outfitted the group, provided Outdoor Discovery School experiences and helped share the story through their own distribution channels.

This partnership resulted in a 30 percent increase in weekly views of the “Chasing the Sun,” 3 million social impressions, and 16.5 million email sends to L.L.Bean customers in addition to Maine’s consumer emails.

The “Chasing the Sun” edition of the Maine Thing Quarterly can be viewed at visitmaine.com/quarterly/chasingthesun.
