What role do you play as part of BVK Leadership?

In my role at BVK, I use my background in strategy for health organizations and firms to help internal and client teams shift from ‘business as usual’ to more innovative, technology-driven, and human-centered ways of delivering health services and products. This includes helping our clients to align their business practices and brand strategy to enhance consumer experiences and spur sustainable growth.

What do you think makes BVK unique as an agency/why do you choose to work at BVK?

What sets BVK apart and resonates with me the most is its dynamic culture that encourages continuous learning, adaptation, and the entrepreneurial drive within our team members. In the span of 40 years, this agency has shown remarkable evolution in catering to life-changing brands and categories as they also evolve. And that is powered by the rewarding experience of working alongside colleagues who apply their expertise in ways that are both purposeful and action-oriented. What’s equally significant to me, particularly as a working mother, is the agency’s view and understanding of the balance between work life and home life (including personal well-being). This harmonious blend of professional growth, collaboration, innovation, and empathy is what makes BVK unique, and why I proudly choose to be a part of it.

What unique perspective or talent or interest or experience do you bring to the agency and how does it add value to your leadership and client work?

My unique perspective comes from having had the opportunity to work both inside health organizations and alongside them in a consulting capacity. This inside-out perspective and experience enable me to empathize and collaborate closely with clients on their opportunities, challenges, and needs. Instead of sitting across the table at a perceivable distance, I can truly sit on their side, fully understanding their realities. This insight not only strengthens the relationship with our clients but also helps me articulate their challenges to our internal teams more effectively. This allows us to devise creative and efficient ways to provide support and thought leadership resources to them. The result is a more tailored, empathetic approach to problem-solving that resonates with our clients and ensures that our solutions are finely tuned to their unique situations.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to any client?

Lead with curiosity. If you’re on a healthcare strategy team (marketing, communications, planning, and provider relations) it is an essential approach to fostering a deeper understanding of your audience’s needs when you need to create resonant solutions. It prompts questions rather than assumptions, enabling insightful engagement. It fosters collaboration and innovation, reflecting a mindset that recognizes the complexity and continuous change within healthcare. It also aligns various organizational elements and teams that are often working toward common goals while adapting to the ever-evolving landscape. A curiosity-driven approach to work creates a more adaptive, responsive organizational culture, and helps set the stage for success.
